My students significantly benefit from using visual supports and interactive activities. The requested materials can be adapted and utilized in multiple ways for students with varying language abilities. I am requesting items they can engage with, that are not too difficult for their unique needs, however still educational and age appropriate. These materials will assist them in improving their language comprehension and expression, as well as increasing their attention during language and/or literacy activities. The photo cards will work on expanding my students vocabulary expressively and receptively, as well as responding to various level WH questions. My students can sometimes present with difficulty expressing their feelings, which is why the social-emotional aspect is also a very important skill I target in my therapy sessions. Working with my students using games helps them engage with peers and take turns while also working on their expressive and receptive language (i.e., identifying colors, sorting objects, responding to questions). Some materials I am hoping to receive will also help me incorporate sensory activities in my therapy, which is essential for my students. The materials I selected are ones that I can adapt or approach in various ways to target MANY different language skills for my kiddos. They will also aid in improving their communication skills and enhance their access to the school curriculum. Development of these core skills will lead to increased independence in the classroom, as well as, functional skills for daily living. Each individual student has a unique learning style, which requires me to use a variety of methods in order to meet their needs. The materials I'm requesting will help me work with both verbal and nonverbal students to meet their speech and language goals.
