First, thank you so much for taking the time to read our page and support our efforts. In my classroom we strive to create an outstanding environment for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. We are looking for your help! In an effort to encourage stimulation of all the senses we are looking to build a sensory garden. With more than seventy five percent of the students within our school living below poverty level, the support of the community is vital in making this garden possible. The garden will be based solely on your donations, no grants of funding has been allotted for this space. What is a sensory Garden? A sensory garden stimulates all the senses: sight, touch, taste, and sound, through the use of different plants and materials. These gardens allow students with special needs to explore their senses in a safe and stimulating environment. Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. The sensory activities allow children to refine their thresholds for different sensory information helping their brain to create stronger connections to process and respond to sensory information. The Sensory Garden will include a wide range of activities that will encourage visual, noise, and touch stimulation. Please help us create and grow our Sensory Garden The garden will transform our outside space, allowing for educational opportunities beyond the classroom walls. Various zones will create stimulating challenges that support learning. We are so very excited about the impact this space will have on our students. Your donations will help us make this possible! We thank you for your time and look forward to making this space a reality in the near future!
