My teams both want nothing more than to learn and enjoy the game of basketball. These students are students who would not have access to organized sports if it were not a school-sponsored activity. The basketball team gives my students something to look forward to and work toward; without it, I fear many of them would find less constructive ways to pass their time. These materials will allow me to match my boys' energy and dedication to the training it deserves. The new balls will mean that I now have enough to use for the team and small-group drills. With our current equipment, we are limited to uncontested layup lines, free throws, footwork drills, and scrimmages. The defensive and rebounding equipment will allow me to teach my students proper rebounding techniques and defensive form. Anything given would be greatly appreciated as we are working with essentially no equipment. We have been doing what we can with our bodies and what is on hand but that is extremely limited. When the last coach left he took his equipment with him.
