Our school is culturally diverse with students coming from many types of backgrounds. I would like to provide my students with reading material that will encourage them to read. Sixth grade is a crucial year for students. It is a great time to get students hooked on reading. Because of the pandemic, we have found our students are below grade level reading. Having a library full of relevant and current books will help students read more. Providing culturally diverse books will give my students a chance to read about characters that they can relate to. I also like to reward my students for great things that they are doing. I usually provide those items from my own pocket, so it would be great to get a small stash of prizes that would motivate the students. Each day, I have students come to school unprepared for the day. I would like to have pencils and other supplies on hand each day to be able to keep giving them out. A bright and colorful classroom is also needed to encourage learning. My students love to come to class, ready to learn and having things look nice for them improves their attitude toward learning.
