I work in a classroom with students who have multiple disabilities. Currently, my students range from kindergarten through third grade. I am the only Multiple Disabilities Support teacher in the county I live in, so we get students from 5 other public schools through a consortium agreement. We try to do a lot of inclusion at our school so my students can interact with their grade-level peers, but their academic learning occurs with me in our own classroom. Because my students have a variety of disabilities ranging physical disabilities, cognitive challenges, visual issues, and hearing issues, they need a variety of sensory stimulation to learn and function in the world around them. Having our own sensory items in our classroom would really help them learn!
