A student's knowledge in physical education is often hard to test, or not tested at all. Elementary physical education focuses primarily on large skill themes. For example how many ways can a student strike a ball? Can they strike a ball with a hand, foot, racquet, bat or stick? How can they show off their knowledge if they have a hard time performing a skill? For my students who are more outgoing this is not a problem, but for the shy or less coordinated students it is. They often show their knowledge in testing, but their peers may never see that side of them. In contrast, their peers who can perform, but may not have specific knowledge for the test lose the chance to learn from their quieter peers. The Me First buzzer system will allow all of my students to show off their knowledge and allow their peers to learn from them. I want to create game show style test and skill reviews, and teamwork focused activities.
