We all have times in our lives where we just need time and a space to relax in. For some of us, it's in our bedroom and for others it may be outside. Wherever it is, we know that the place brings forth joy to us when we need it the most. Through this project, my goal is to create a place in the classroom where my students will be able to have this safe space where they can relax when the school day gets overwhelming. When situations arise where they are struggling to regulate their emotions, they will have a space full of materials to help them. This sensory space will help students who cannot use their words regulate their emotions so they are able to express their wants and needs. They will have materials that allow them to not focus on school, but focus on what the materials are doing and how they are feeling. I have seen what an impact sensory materials can make on my students. Having a whole space in our classroom would be such a blessing to them!
