I'm a choir teacher in North Chicago, a very small, close-knit, and under-served community in far northeast Illinois. My students are just discovering who they are, and it is my goal as a choir and music teacher to help open their minds to other cultures and genres of music so that they realize there is a bigger world out of there. I have the privilege of working with over 150 students to help grow their love of music in a variety of ways. Our school community encompasses students that have the greatest need for resources that we just don't have. We are in a high poverty area and over a quarter of our students have family in the military, so mobility is also high. Any help you can give to foster an improved educational experience for our students would be greatly appreciated by all of us!
