The days of the traditional classroom are long gone. Today, educators understand that learning is social and learning environments need to foster learning through discussion and collaboration. By incorporating flexible seating options into the classroom, student learning will be optimized. Flexible seating enables students to learn in an environment that is comfortable for them. They get to choose where they sit and the type of seat that is best for them. When students are not content in their physical environment, they can become distracted. Distracted students are not engaged and learning. By giving students a choice, they can have a sense of empowerment which is key to academic success.
