21st Century students need tools and resources that assist them in the learning process. White boards can be used in many lessons, such as ELA or math. Students can demonstrate understanding by writing a response on their board and as the teacher, I can quickly assess students, then modify or clarify any misconceptions immediately. Magna-Tiles are specifically for math, students can use them to model addition and subtraction. Word Building Cards are essential for students as they learn to read. Having images in conjunction with letters will help students grasp the concept of building words into sentences. Shapes that link together will be incorporated into daily math lessons where students compose and decompose numbers. Finally, Learning Mats will be used during math and can be used year over year. Learning Mats will be essential to building a strong foundation in number sense. Students will be able to create and demonstrate understanding using the Learning Mat. As students move forward, understanding numbers and numbers sense is vital to their academic success.
