I currently teach 7th and 8th grade math students at a variety of levels. Some students are on grade level, some are above and some can barely add, subtract, multiply and divide. Right now, my classroom has a total of 4 calculators for 25 students. Priority tends to go to students that struggle more in math but it would be so nice for every students to have a calculator to use especially during our "real-word math" application units. Calculating percent-off, tax, tip and interest is much more complicated than it needs to be when you don't have a calculator. I hope to have a 1:1 ratio of calculators to students so that all students are able to access their learning.
