Hello! Thank you for coming to my page and supporting young learners within my school and classroom. I am a second year teacher and will be teaching science this year! I came into this classroom with it previously being an ELA/SS classroom so I have limited science supplies for my students. Owl Pellets: These will help my students be able to have dissection days as they have never had the opportunity to be hands-on like this before. This will give my students the opportunity to realize and discover science with their hands and how science is truly in nature all around us. This will be something that is memorable for them as i myself remember dissecting owl pellets in 5th grade, too! Owl pellets will be used during our Life Science units. We cover Ecosystems and Energy for about 3-4 months as it is a significant part in 5th grade science curriculum. Circuits: LIGHTS, CAMERA, CIRCUITS! What a creative and unique way for students to see science in a different perspective. Being the engineers and developers themselves figuring out which circuits can be connected to which cords to light up different bulbs. This will allow my students to be engineers and see something first hand they are able to create, design and make come to life! Circuits will be available throughout the year to help stem creativity for students science fair projects, but will become a huge conversation and hands-on creations during our Physical Science units. Light/Energy: Similar to the circuits, students always love seeing different colors, the way light reflection and refraction works right in front of them. At this age, students want to be the scientists using their own hands to create something from start to finish. Light kits will be primarily utilized in Physical Science units.
