Being a Title 1 school, 76% of our students are on free or reduced lunch, so their families struggle to financially provide for their kids to be included in something like extra-curricular music ensembles or lessons. An "instrument team" is a non-auditioned music ensemble in which students would meet 1-2 times a week after school for one hour that would perform at local festivals, nursing homes, etc. Myself and a few other music teachers in the area have discussed collaborating for community performances, but the resources I currently have inhibit our ability to travel and put on an acceptable looking performance, because the students would have to sit on the ground in order to play the "Orff" xylophones.
