I would love to see my students share stories from their cultures with others, and in turn learn about cultures outside of their own. This library will be available, not only to ELL (English Language Learners) students, but their peers so that they can learn, laugh and enjoy stories from cultures around the world. Representation is one of the most powerful things anyone can give to a person. How wonderful it would be for all children to read a story with characters that look, and speak like they do. To inspire children and show them that they can do anything; that they matter! Research shows that literacy in the home language of ELL students aids in mastery of English proficiency. Your contribution to our library will ensure that our large population of native Spanish speakers will get to practice those literacy skills in both English and Spanish. Every student matters, with your help we can show them individuality is valued!
