All of my students want to learn and our current technology proves to be a bit of a hindrance. We are challenged with the fact that most of our technological devices are reserved for use during district-wide assessments and our state standardized testing. We currently have a document camera but it is consistently blurred and out of focus. Waiting for the camera to refocus takes up so much of our valuable class time. The use of a document camera that has the capacity to allow us to zoom in, zoom out, and manually focus will provide the opportunity for my students to view mathematical practices and processes comfortably, the entire period. This helps with the need to maintain their focus and also helps to hone in on areas of a problem they need more assistance with. By incorporating a Chromebook into our classroom routine will be great for my students. The Chromebook will play many roles in the classroom for my students and me. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to practice on their own, get comfortable and zone in on skills they may be lacking. We will be able to utilize the table option of the device in small group instruction to write and work out various problems.
As my students progress, they will be able to record and track their progress when working in pairs, with a small group, and their independent work to build mathematical skills as well as be able to build self-confidence. I will also be able to take these results and data with me to district, school, and departmental meetings. These two devices will assist in the reduction of distractions and increase student engagement. This will enhance the learning environment not only for me but for my amazing students as
