Our school garden is intended to introduce our students to native plants and methods of growing and sustaining them. Our garden also provides insight into conservation efforts for both plants and water; composting methods; soil Ph levels; and a basic introduction to food nutrition. As well as serving as a hands-on tool for ecological and biological studies, the garden also provides students an opportunity to be outside, fully physically engaged in the learning process. This is what makes this project so dear to my heart. The garden is accessible to the entire campus, and is regularly accessed and attended to by multiple teachers and their students.
