These quality books that I have selected will encourage my students to read for longer periods of time, thus building their reading stamina. Diversified chapter books will help the students in my class by allowing them to read about people who look like them. Unfortunately, the books that we have are older, and have seen better days. I do not have a great supply of grade-appropriate chapter books and books for my students who read on grade level and for those who read below grade level. Giving students quality books to read that are on their level not only boosts their self confidence as a reader, it helps them as they utilize better reader strategies, and helps to develop their reading habits.
