The goal is to design an interactive classroom environment which entails a studentś whole body involvement. The classroom I recently came to is designed with basic tables and chairs. My goal is to turn it into an exciting learning environment with stations to explore. As each student comes to RSP they will have the opportunity to choose which work station to begin genuine enhanced learning experiences. Each station will have materials set up to meet specific goals. The stations are also going to represent the childś personal lifestyle settings outside of school to encourage academics in any generalized environment. For example, a tree with a green shag rug (grass), fake and real plants, and an outside scene complete with lights in the sky (ceiling) will represent the childś yard or local park and a serene place to read and embrace literacy. Another setting is going to resemble a living room. Another station will include outdoor activities that include camping with a tent. The stations are going to be equipt with various forms of literature that include writing materials. They will be interchangable, seasonal, and subject/content based. For example, a station will have math manipulatives with writing pads for data collection and the students will be given items to measure with rulers, measuring tapes and other measuring tools. They will be asked to take data and record their findings. The classroom is going to become an interactive environment with student led learning and hands on materials throughout.
