With this preferential seating on the rug and in the chairs not only can the students be closer to the teacher but the students can have the opportunity to be less distracted in the fold-up chairs. These chairs can be moved from place to place as well as for the kinesthetic learners can help them move back and forth while listening to the lesson. There is also a calming/reading corner in my classroom for students to go to to get some independent time in during their day. The chairs will increase their ability to be able to sit independently in a cozy environment making them feel more confident and be more willing to complete their goal task. The chairs will in turn help reduce anxiety and increase their attention span during their calming and reading time throughout the day.
