Students at GEMs are encouraged to take breaks as needed to re-regulate in a constructive way. It is clear that students do better academically when they are in the classroom at all times. Currently, breaks take place outside of the classroom. With your help, my goal is to completely fund the needs of my students through flexible seating as well as fidget and calming tools. Students find peace in being able to be alone with their thoughts and reflect on themselves. The "break" system has been successful for all of my students, and I'm so excited to help them transfer this success into our classroom.
