I have requested a number of supplies that I believe will be useful for my students. There are a few items not related directly to writing but would be a great addition to our classroom. Such as the Dr Seuss stickers. Even as an adult I still appreciate motivational quotes. I asked for a package of band aid because students often ask fro this item. I am currently teaching my students how to write and it is clear it will be a journey. We are applying the TBEAR format to help students create a well structured essay. I figure if I can provide color pens; they will be able to better visualize the different parts of their essays. My plan is to have students color code the different steps of the TBEAR until it becomes second nature to write using this format. Even though some students will carry this out by typing on a chrome; several students prefer to write instead of typing. I have modeled using the TBEAR on the smart board for whole class teaching and students have made it clear that seeing the different colors really does help them. Writing is probably the most feared task for my students and this is an attempt to assist them as they try to become better writers. I am also trying to creating more writing space for whole class teaching and learning.
