The trend in education is to require more written production from students at a younger age. As an occupational therapist, I see that students in kindergarten are writing full sentences before they have developed the foundational motor skills that are required to do so. For this reason, I want to serve whole classrooms or small groups of at risk students in order to try and prevent referrals for services in the future (using an RTI model). In order to do this, I need more supplies for a larger reach in my schools. I will be going into classrooms and providing modeling, activities, and strategies for teachers to use within their classrooms for years to come.
