I want my students to be able to have the ability to read classic and modern literature in the class when they don't have the ability to read a book at home. Some requested titles include A Wrinkle in Time, Lord of the Flies, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, and The Giver. The students will use the books for reading in our silent reading time and then reflect on what they like/dislike about the books. Several of my students struggle with summaries with material they don't like to read, so I would want them to practice their summary skills through material they enjoy. Many of my students love to read but don't like to check out of the library simply because they can't find what they are looking for.
