The use of these Kinex roller coaster sets will be important in the students' exploration of force and motion as their final project on the unit. Over a 4 week period, students will be learning how each force acts on one particular object and has both strength and direction. They will also learn the difference between balanced forces with a net force of zero and unbalanced forces. If students have these tools to apply forces and create motion through exploration, this lesson would leave a lasting impression. After creating their roller coasters within groups. Each group will present their roller coaster and describe the forces, motion, speed and direction at play. They will also evaluate their work as they providence evidence to support how these models relate to the real world.
