My students have a hard time with abstract math. They benefit from working in a small group and from using pictorial representation. For example, many of my students struggle when given a math equation or word problem where they are expected to solve the problem with paper and pencil. Instead, they need the opportunity to act out the problem using hands-on materials or drawings. This dry-erase board kidney table will give the students opportunities to explain their thinking using pictures, proof drawing, and equations. The table will make it easy for students to share their thinking with one another.
