I'm asking for an entire class set of the novel City of Ember. My students track their reading by asking questions as they read, make connections, draw images that pop in their head, find unfamiliar vocabulary words, make comments about surprising things they've read, and summarize at the end of chapters. They use post-its and stick it everywhere in their book. Reading The City of Ember will assist in increasing reading comprehension, spark interest in reading, and is easily integrated with science standards on sustainability! I teach both subject areas and being able to make it more meaningful for my students is always a plus!
