These items will help keep the students calm while they continue to work on classroom assignments. When the students with Autism replace tapping, clapping, or making other noises with rocking or other movements, they will become calmer, and my other students will be able to better understand the lessons and assignments that are given. When the classroom is noisy, everyone seems to get frustrated, and it becomes impossible for everyone in the class to think for themselves. Autism is a serious condition, and there is special training that is needed to help the teacher and all caregivers provide the services that these students need on a daily basis. My autistic students are smart, but until they are calm, it is hard for them to concentrate in order to complete their assignments.
