These items are a basic necessity for a music classroom where students are learning how to play orchestral string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass) and ukulele. Getting tuners would mean that I could teach the students how to tune the instruments themselves which would turn into more quality instruction time and less "wait-for-the-teacher-to-tune-all-of-the-instruments" time. It also means that students are able to know how to tune their instruments at home and will be more likely to play outside of school. The shoulder sponges and cello end-pin stops are basic orchestra classroom materials that we currently lack. Many students come from families who cannot afford to purchase these items on their own, forcing the students to go without. These simple accessories seem minor but play a very important role in posture, technique, comfort, and ultimately in student success.
