Developing early literacy skills makes it easier for children to learn to read. Children who enter school with these skills have an advantage that carries with them throughout their school years. Reading is an essential skill for success in school and later in life. These materials will help my students to use reading and writing in real and important ways. And, being literate allows us to use books and other forms of writing to learn from – we can learn new things from what other people write. When we help children become readers and writers, we give them the key to a worldwide community.

About my class
