My students would like the opportunity to create their own businesses. We would like to obtain the popcorn maker so we can set up a business which would be handled by the students. The business would allow them to practice life skills such as money skills, inventory skills, kitchen skills, and social skills. These are all skills needed to be productive members of their community. Students would learn while doing which is the type of learning my students need to master taught concepts. Due to their disabilities, they wouldn't necessarily get the chance to work in the actual community. This project will allow them to gain work experience in a variety of areas while in the school setting and subsequently prepare them for after graduation.
