These materials directly affects the students' understanding of genetics, research, and synthesizing. The Louisiana state standards for 8th grade requires the students to be able to understand and interpret genetic traits. In order for my students to become further engaged and intrigued, I have adopted a hands-on approach. The materials provided in the project will allow the students to do extensive research on genetic trait transfer. The students are going to be working as young med students and doctors to create pedigree charts and cross examine DNA traits in order to slow the process of offspring inheritance. The experience will push the skills of research, interpretation, and application.
