While we have an engaging and rigorous unit, we don't have any of the literature or texts that go along with it. To date, we have been using photocopies, but I would love to give my students the experience of reading with an actual novel. A class set of books with accompanying nonfiction texts will engage my students in interesting material and help further their reading! They are very interested in hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters - all of the topics covered in these texts. Providing them with fiction along the same vein will further their knowledge and allow them to explore fiction as well.
