Each year we do a trust-building lesson that culminates with a powerful personal narrative with illustrations. We revisit and add to the stories several times throughout the school year. This is an ongoing project that reaffirms the students' feelings of self-worth and it acknowledges, through their own words, what they are going through during this politically driven uprising of inhumanity. It gives these students a powerful voice. Two years ago I wrote and received a grant for a color laser scanner/copier/printer so the students could print and share their very special stories and art. Now, we are out of toner for the printer and the school has had a major budget cut. Sadly, we no longer can print the wonderful student work. My hope is that you will make it possible to continue this very important project by providing the toner cartridges we need for the printer.
