Students will be creating realistic self portraits using woodless graphite pencils and blending stumps. This is a great way for students to learn how to create value in a realistic manner. We will be using the grid method of drawing so that their portraits are more accurate. Students will begin by drawing a 1x1 inch grid on a 6x9 inch photo of themselves then they will draw a 2x2 inch grid onto 12x18 inch drawing paper so that the final drawing is twice the size of the original photo. Students will use the grid to accurately draw a picture of themselves then we will use the woodless graphite pencils to add value. Last, we will use the blending stumps to blend values together to give them a seamless finish.
