Classroom appearance is often the first thing that a student notices about a classroom and then associates with the teacher. I recently moved to my new school and my furniture is basic, uninviting, and run down. My kids deserve an environment that is more conducive to learning; flexible groups and arrangements. Kids do not learn best from sit and get. My students are constantly moving and adjusting based on their data-supported needs and strengths. Classroom culture is a must for any successful classroom. Culture has multiple components including space design, safety, human relationships, and management. My classroom has most of these pieces but I would love to add a flexible seating arrangement.
