A lot of my students can not to afford to buy their own supplies and those that I began the year with are running out. As a first year teacher, I did not start the year with a surplus of supplies or items for myself to effectively teach. These items will help my students engage in activities and focus on instruction that isn't whole group. For example, in small groups, we use dry erase markers for students to work out problems. For other assignments, they will need pencils and other supplies. My students learn best working problems out on dry erase boards and talking to those around them. Other items will aid me in being a better teacher by having materials that do not distract from learning. As a first year teacher, there are some supplies that I don't have. This causes a hassle and distraction as I make do with what I have. Having a podium to use for science lessons where I can be in front of the class as I teach and being able to properly file completed assignments will make my classroom move smoother.
