Vince Gowmon stated, " When we make PLAY the foundation of learning, we teach the whole child.'
Help me 'teach the whole child through play.' My little ones have multiple breaks built into their day. These items will reach their sensory, social interaction, language and OT goals by having a variety of hands on experiences that reach all the modalities of learning.
All of the requested items can be used in future school years therefore making this project limitless for many of my kiddos.
Some of the requested materials will be used for strengthening OT skills such as vertical work. The LEGO boards and LEGOs will be attached to a wall so the kiddos can work standing up and well as the magnetic letters and number on a metal tray that is attached to a door. The sensory tubs are an excellent opportunity for the little ones to use their language and learn basic positional words. Playdough supplies increase their social peer to peer learning while sharing items and waiting turns.
All of the materials are stored in the Break/Social area that is next to their work table, keeping all items together for easier access by staff as well as the students.
