These items will help bring the literature to life; students need basic materials in order to learn. Having paper, pencils, highlighters, etc. will assist them with becoming more organized and proficient in their learning. We do a lot of hands-on/tactile activities in our classroom. Having materials for them to be able to draw images of the symbolic measures of the Holocaust with explanation, or developing their own poem about survival being a matter of life or death is essential to real-world connections. Literacy is a component that is optimal for all students to become productive citizens and life-long learners. Thanks!
