At our school we hope to give students an experience in STEAM from an early age. One way we are doing this is through a robotics club. We run a FIRST LEGO League team at our school that exposes students to real world problem solving while also building soft-skills like communication, collaboration and inclusion. As times are changing, so are the tools our robotics students are using to engage in robotics. FIRST LEGO League just announce that they are discontinuing use of EV3 robots and moving to Spike Prime. This puts our students at a disadvantage as we currently do not have any Spike Prime kits. New Spike Prime kits would allow our students to grow in their understanding of robotics and continue to soar after a great virtual session where they won their first regional tournament. During this uncertain time, our students are being given a chance to interact with peers and regain some sense of normalize. New robot kits will allot them to spend the spring learning together and preparing for fall.
