By attending sessions like "Organize! Activate! Let's Protect Public Education in 2020!" and "Talking Race: Grounding Our Understanding to Effectively Talk About Race and Racial Justice" I will acquire tools to protect my students' educational rights and prepare them for the world outside of our school walls. We are living in very turbulent, scary times, especially for our minority children. Unfortunately, most children in Special Education programs do not have the parental support or home lives that will prepare them for the real world. Teachers don't just teach. We parent, mentor, counsel, and love. Attending this conference makes me better.
