If I hear a child express what their favorite "special" class is, more often than not, they say "gym class"! My students want to be in gym class, but sometimes they come to gym class "unprepared". Sometimes it is their fault. They forgot their tennis shoes. Sometimes they have to wear boots because of the weather. But sometimes, they have grown out of their shoes before mom and dad can afford new ones. This project will help my students get to participate in class, even on those days when maybe they forgot, or couldn't find their shoes, or my favorite--when the family dog was hungry! I want to be able to say to a student, "I have a solution to your shoeless-ness!" With this project, my students will be safe in my class, and they will be able to participate--even if they don't come prepared.
