Both my remote and in person students will use dice and rekenreks to practice subitizing, learn how to solve math problems, and develop number sense. Rekenreks will be introduced to begin addition and subtraction. Students will need to develop these skills to be able to succeed in kindergarten. Journals will be used to connect math with literacy and to track their knowledge and growth. Having the right math materials at home and at school will support children at their different levels of learning. I want my students to be confident learners and develop an understanding of numbers during these most difficult times.
