I've been working with 4 other teachers in my school to research the important characteristics of Guided Reading Level J, K, L, and M books. We have learned that too many children are skipping over early chapter books in favor of "Thick Books." These books will allow us to practice crucial introductions to plot, setting, and character across familiar stories, thus allowing the children to more readily apply new strategies! As our children routinely interact with the characters and become fully involved in the patterns these series present, they will learn how to attack more difficult texts in the future!

About my class
