Many of my students are non-verbal and require Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support their communication; they need support expressing their needs and wants, commenting, and requesting during day-to-day tasks. Having an iPad in my therapy room will help my students (verbal and non-verbal) communicate their ideas, express their needs/wants, request items (for example art materials or food items during craft and cooking activities, as well as respond to questions about different books we read together. This device can also be used in the classroom during session that occur in the classroom setting. In addition, using a device during speech sessions can help to see if the student would benefit from an augmentative device of his/her own.
