My first grade classroom is filled with students who are enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn. They are working hard on becoming readers, writers and building math skills. My students have a wide range of academic needs, from just learning to read basic CVC words, to asking when they can try out chapter books. Our school is located in a rural part of East Tennessee where over 75% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches. Many of their homes lack the educational resources that they need to grow. My hope is to fill their classroom with a variety of materials that engage and excite them, while meeting their individual academic needs.
