Our Learning Center currently using Guided Reading books that are useful, however, many of them are outdated and lack diverse characters. We also primarily have fiction readers and we would love to expose our students to nonfiction text. Some of the nonfiction books include topics such as recycling, nature, and our Earth. Our students deserve up to date books that have characters that resemble themselves and their peers. With our new leveled reader sets, we will be able to teach our students how to read and analyze text using both nonfiction and fiction books that are both up to date and culturally diverse.
