Most of my students are not excited when I am teaching a lesson on music theory. I constantly remind them that music theory is the start for their own creations. My students have so much potential and with the right nourishment, they can take their natural ability and creative talent to another level. Some of my students begin their days with unfavorable circumstances so when they can take those situations and I teach them to them into lyrics, those words are strengthening their lives. In my classroom I have watched the toughest student flash the biggest smile after they played a C chord for the first time on the piano. I have witnessed the joy of my chorus students when they are able to sing a note that they didn't believe they could sing. I want to help my students learn how take their stories and transform them into songs. I want to watch theirs faces when they hear themselves for the first time on a live recording. With Apple Garageband technology, my students will be able to learn how write produce songs at the middle school level. This opportunity will help build confidence, self esteem and discipline in my students. "We never know the greatest that is in our midst, I just want to help discover who is in mine".
