Growing up I did not have black educators and was not exposed to black authors or text until college. That lack of representation in person and in print allowed negative societal views to shape how I viewed myself. As an educator, I have the privilege and responsibility to ensure that cycle does not continue with the next generation. This part 1 of a larger "See YOURSELF" project is to give our scholars access to literary works where they can begin to explore positive self-images. We hope you see yourself too!
