As a school, we strive to meet the needs of each child and design our instruction to meet all learning styles. Not everyone learns the same way. Our environment is changing every day so why shouldn't our classroom style change? We have some students that like to sit while they learn and are perfectly fine with that. We have others who are very antsy and have to move around while they learn. This school year has been a challenge to keep my students motivated and engaged. The use of small group time is extremely valuable to their learning, but they often cannot sit still or focus in order to be productive. Studies have shown that the use of flexible seating can increase focus and overall creates a better environment for learning, so I am excited to introduce it in our classroom. With these wobble stools as seating options during independent and small group times, my students will be happier and more focused on their work.
