In order to help launch the music program at The American Dream School, and to fulfill its educational mission, keyboards will be used as a tool to (a) teach the foundations of music theory, and (b) will also be used for instrumental instruction. Through the use of the keyboards, students will learn music theory concepts that are applicable to all areas of music. This will serve as an efficient tool to conceptualize the various notions regarding such aspects as: scales, arpeggios, chords and intervals of all sorts, as well as tonalities and modes. Students will be able to develop keyboard skills as they explore their creative capabilities (creating melodies, finger coordination, sustaining harmonies, etc.). The ability to play an instrument is a necessary component to the well-rounded academic growth of any student.
